Cancun is the capital of the Travel & Tourism industry in Mexico. Located on the North East coast of the Yucatan Peninsula, with the main Hotel Zone located approximately 12
miles from Cancun International Airport.
The Cancun that most tourists know was constructed as a purpose built holiday destination over 30 years ago on a strip of land surrounded by mangrove swamps, dense jungle, and
lagoons. In fact the original name for Cancun was known as "Nizuc", and obviously there is a lot of history & culture attached to this beautiful city. The two main Mayan Ruin Sites in
Cancun are "El Rey", which are located in the West of the Cancun Hotel Zone, and "El Meco", which are located North on the main route to "Punta Sam". El Meco is probably the more
substantial in structure of the two sites, however both are still classed as important Mayan Sites of Mexico!
If you are more into Fun & Adventure, then take a trip to one of the
eco-parks / theme parks in the area, Xcaret, Xplor, or Xel Ha, plus the
Natural Biosphere of Sian Ka'a'n. Be amazed with natural beauty
combined with fun activities to make your tour special.
Cancun is an "All Year Round" holiday destination, providing year round
sunshine with temperatures averaging 80° F. The tranquil waters of the
"Lagoon Nichupte" and the Caribbean Sea provide excellent conditions in
and around the Hotel Zone of Cancun. Hotel deals in Cancun can be
found in a broad range of accommodations, from boutique hotels, villas,
Motels & Hotels in Downtown Cancun, to the high price Luxury
Resorts located in Cancun Hotel Zone.
Shopping heaven can be found in Cancun, from local markets, large department stores, to malls & plaza's! Newly expanded "Plaza Las Americas" is
located near to the entrance to the hotel zone, with many local and top brand stores inside, plus food halls and coffee shops to quench the appetite. Luxury
Avenue, Kukulkan Plaza and La Isla offer an extensive array of designer stores for people who are looking for that special gift. Louis Vuitton, Carolina
Herrera, Hugo Boss, Versace, Mont Blanc, Paul & Shark, Breigtling, Diamonds International and Maraf all have authentic stores in Cancun
Travelling from Cancun International Airport to the Hotel Zone will take you approximately 15 minutes depending on the hotel or resort you are staying. If you
are staying in the local resort of Puerto Morelos, your journey will take you approximately 20 minutes South along the Highway 307, and Playa Del
Carmen is approximately 45 minutes from the airport.
Puerto Morelos is a more relaxing resort with very splendid All Inclusive Hotels for Adults Only, Honeymooners, or Family. and really is for people who
are looking for a peaceful & tranquil holiday or vacation! Playa Del Carmen is a little livelier, but not as wild as Cancun. Most of the eco-parks, cenote's, and
Mayan Ruins are closely situated in the Riviera Maya, and this is why Playa Del Carmen appeals to most people who are looking to experience the history,
culture and adventure in Mexico.
The main Mayan Ruin Sites located close to Cancun are; Tulum, Coba, & Chichen Itza, and the best way to experience these wonders are through
organised tours. Professional guides are going to explain the importance of the Mayas to the Yucatan Peninsula, and give you an understanding of the
cultural differences we possess and the importance of their existence!
