The whale shark actively feeds and targets concentrations of plankton or fish. It is able to
ram filter feed or can gulp in a stationary position.
For 3 months of the year, between June & August, Whale Sharks travel North to the feeding
in shivers or pods of 20 to 50!.
Due to the nature of the tour, there are certain guidelines that all tour operators must adhere
to. This is for the safety of the Whale Sharks, and the safety of the swimmers!
The aim of all the Whale Shark tours is to educate all the visitors wishing to encounter these
creatures, and also to promote eco-friendly advice in a controlled manner. Regulations put in
place controls the amount of people in the area at any specific time, and only 2 persons at a
time are allowed in the water!
